As the least fashionable-fashionista, you’ll ever meet I struggle with fashion. When I first started my boutique, people who know me laughed at the thought of me in the fashion industry. Here are five fashion tips for women that have helped me.
Fashion Tips for Women
Reduce Your Closet
This is something I really struggle with. My closet is usually full to overflowing. I even broke my closet bar recently because there was so much hanging in it. But this tip is so important.
When your closet is full you tend to wear the items that you like the best or find most comfortable. Those items aren’t always the most fashionable items.
I challenge you to stand in your closet and ask yourself if you were shopping today, would you buy that item? If the answer is no, then it’s time to get rid of it.
Undergarments Matter
Many an outfit has been ruined by improper undergarments. An ill-fitting bra or droopy panties can totally ruin even the most fashionable outfit.
If you’re not sure how to fit your bra, check out this post for some assistance.
Buy new undergarments – daily wear items should be replaced every three to six months as they get stretched or dirty.
Accessorize
A statement necklace or bracelet can take your outfit to another level. Find a few pieces that work with multiple outfits so you aren’t overwhelmed by your choices.
Add a Pop of Color
A fresh pop of color can transform any outfit. You can add a bright pair of shoes, a statement necklace, or a purse.
Your shoes don’t have to be high heels, my pop of color often comes from my flip-flops. If you don’t know me yet, you might not realize I own around a hundred pairs of Old Navy flip-flops. They are my favorite and the only time I don’t wear them is when it’s snowing.
Learn from the Best
There are so many amazing resources where you can see styles that you love. My personal favorite is Pinterest. I follow some awesome fashion bloggers and get outfit inspiration from them. Find some you love and follow them.
